Instructions:

Ch 5; join with slip st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 15 dc in ring: join with slip st to top of ch-3. (16 dc) 

Rnd 2: Sc in same dc as joining.  *Ch 3, skip next dc, sc in next dc, rep from * around.  Join with sl st in beg sc.  (8 ch-3 sp)

Rnd 3: Sl st in ch-3 sp.  Ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, *3 dc in next ch-3 sp, ch 1; rep from * around.  Join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (24 dc and 8 ch-3 sp)

Rnd 4: Sc in same st as joining.  Ch 3, sc in 2nd dc of rnd 3, ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp, around.  Join with sl st in beg sc.  (16 ch-3 sps)

Rnd 5: Sl st into ch-3 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, *3 dc in next ch-3 sp, ch 1; rep from * around.  Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3.  (48 dc, 16 ch-1 sp)

Rnd 6: Sl st to 2nd dc, ch 5, *sc in 2nd dc of next group of dc, ch 5; rep from *  around.  (16 ch-5 sps)

Rnd 7: Sl st into ch-5 sp, ch 4, 6 tr in same sp (corner), *dc in next sc, 3 dc in next ch-5 sp, dc in next dc, 3 dc in next ch-5 sp, dc in next sc, 3 dc in next ch-5 sp, dc in next sc, 7 tr in next ch-5 sp (corner); rep from * around.  Join with sl st to top of ch-4. You will have 4 7-tr corners.  (80 sts)

Rnd 8: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, *7 dc in next tr, dc in next 19 dc; rep from * 3 more times, dc in next 16 dc. Join with sl st in top of beg ch-3.

Rnd 9: Ch 4, sk next dc, *dc in next dc, ch 1; rep from * across to center dc of corner, 7 dc in corner dc, ch 1, dc in next dc, rep from * around.  Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-4.  (You will have 13 ch-1 sp on each side.)

Rnd 10: Ch 3, *dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc; rep from * to center dc of corner, 5 dc in corner dc, rep from * around.  Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3.

Rnd 11: Sl st into next dc, ch 4, sk next dc, *dc in next dc, ch 1, continue to next corner, 5 dc in corner, ch 1; rep from * around.  Join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4.

Rnd 12: Ch 3, *dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc to corner, 3 dc in corner.  Rep from * around.  Join with sl st to top of beg ch-3.  Finish off and weave in ends.

Note:    If you wish to make this a 7" square, finish off at the end of rnd 8.
