    Columbia Crash
Space Shuttle Columbia tragedy shocks the nation.

The 7 courageous men and women are truly heroes and we at HMB could not go without acknowleding the pain their families are feeling. The least we can do is provide a little piece of comfort in the form of a handmade comfort afghan.  If you wish to contribute to this project, the following are the square guidelines for Operation Columbia squares:

    1. All squares are to be tagged with either your name, or name and e-mail address
    2. Squares are to be no less than 12" square.
    3. All squares are to be made from acrylic yarn. Please no cotton yarn squares
    4. Preferred color(s) are red (true red, no burgundy), white (no soft white) and blue (royal blue or soft navy). You can also use the variegated red, white and blue.
    5. Both granny and sampler squares will be graciously accepted
    6. Please, Please, Please do NOT finish off your square by just pulling the yarn through the last stitch and cutting it off. Please leave at least a 4" tail after your last stitch and weave it into the stitches of the square so that it doesn't come apart. Also, no knots please. If you are not comfortable with weaving in the tail, please leave it and we will weave it in for you.
    7. There are no minimum and maximum number of squares that can be contributed. Each square is made with love, and received with love. We appreciate any that are sent in to us.
For the American crew members the squares will be red, white and blue.  The following assemblers will be glad to receive your squares, please email them to get their mailing address.
